PicMed’s History

PicMed originally opened its first medical clinic in 1992 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. From the beginning, PicMed has been a wellness clinic concentrating on workplace drug testing and immunization services. To meet the needs of its business partners, the clinic has opened additional physical locations, expanded its geographical reach, and added to its menu of services. However, PicMed has not changed its focus on corporate wellness. The company’s overall mission is to help organizations discover the early indicators of health risk and/or to immunize against any potential health threat.

Covid Testing

What type of test is performed?

PicMed  uses two types of COVID-19 testing to check for active infection. Rapid-result testing locations perform antigen testing, which returns results within 30-45 minutes. Lab testing locations perform polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing, which returns results within 2-3 days. If you are getting your testing for a specific purpose such as travel, please ensure you are selecting the proper test required by your airline, destination or other requiring organization. Certain travel destinations and airlines do not accept rapid-result testing.

How is my sample for testing collected?

Nasal swab: A nasal swabs looks like a long Q-tip. It is inserted about two inches into your nose and swirled around for a few seconds. The swab is then removed and tested You may experience a tickling sensation while the swab is in your nose, and after it is removed, you might sneeze or have runny eyes for a moment or two. Nasal swabs are fast and accurate, and they’re a good option for most people

Do you allow Self Collection.

Yes, you will be given a swab and asked to collect a sample of nasal secretions. This is done by inserting the swab into your nostril approximately 1 inch into the nasal passage (midway) with the most visible drainage or the nostril that is most congested if drainage is not present. The swab is rotated several times, removed gently and this process is repeated on the other side.

How old can a patient be to get a COVID-19 test?

For rapid-result testing , patients must be 5 years of age or older. For lab testing (results within days), patients must be 10 years of age or older. A parent or legal guardian must complete registration for all minor patients.

Cost of testing

There are lots of free testing options and by no means is PicMed the only option for testing.  If free testing is needed please contact your local health department for list of locations.

PicMed, however, is a private clinic and provider of self pay services.  We do not file insurance for most of our services but offer affordable self pay options.  You will be provided documentation  if needed to submit your claim for reimbursement.

Do I need an appointment?
